Ever experienced that embarrassing silent pause after giving your lover a gift?; that silent pause that secretly says “This is how much you care for me?”. Well, for those of those who have experienced that pause, or those of us who haven’t, but never want to experience it, there's a new service called Romantic Gifts Online, which might put an end to such romantic gaffs. The site is designed to help men and women buy gifts for their loved ones by offering up a targeted selection of items for men and women, hand picked by the site's creators.
Gifts are broken down into basic categories like jewellery, flowers, “gifts for him” and “gifts for her”. The site also lists ‘gift ideas’ and a ‘hot picks’ section for both men and women. To facilitate buying for those partners who seem to be notoriously difficult to buy for, they have a gift finder facility which will narrow down your gift search by defining recipient (boyfriend, wife etc), personality type (has it all, pampered etc), occasion (Christmas, valentines day, anniversary etc) and price range.
My favourite thing about the site is that it also offers dating advice for both men and women such as, for men:
“Start listening and stop talking. Keep your date interested but don't turn into a one man entertainer. She will bore of you quickly because she wants to talk about herself too. Listen to things she tells you about her and remember them. Women love to chat so you need to learn to listen to her. Remembering things she told you will impress her by the bucketful. Fact.”
And for women:
“Never be available when he wants you to be. Never be at the end of a phone when he calls and always let him leave a message or two first before replying”. Sound advice for both genders!
The site also contains some wonderfully romantic poetry which you can always include when you give your purchased gift to your partner. The following is a lovely example:
A Charm Invests A Face - Emily Dickson
A charm invests a face
The lady dare not lift her veil
For fear it be dispelled.
But peers beyond her mesh,
And wishes, and denies,
Lest interview annul a want
That image satisfies.
The site is the business idea of Mike Armstrong, an accomplished entrepreneur who got the idea for the site from his recent real-life experiences of gift buying (not done very well!) and romance and dating (ditto!!!).
